Entrevista:

Dream Pages (D.P.): 1_Quando começou a escrever?

    J. R. J.Identifico-me totalmente com as minhas personagens.

     E. K.Não, eu preciso do silêncio.

     E. K.Silenciosa, sarcástica, humilde, determinada e peculiar-

First of all, I want to thank Elle for acepting this interview and for all the kindness and sincerity with that she deal with this little challenge.

Dream Pages (D.P.): 1_When did you start to write?
Elle Kennedy (E. K.)I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember. I started writing short stories as a kid, and eventually moved on to full-length novels.

D.P.: 2_Where did your characters come from? Do you identify yourself with them?
     E. K.I totally identify with my characters. They all have a diverse range of characteristics, and a lot of their traits, whether it’s sarcasm or nervous babbling, are traits I have too. Where they come from… it’s a bit of this and a bit of that, really. Sometimes it’s about creating the right foil for another character, other times it’s just because I’m interested in writing a certain personality type, like the “good girl”, or the “bad boy”.

D.P.: 3_How do you deal with the criticism of your work?
     E. K.I have a pretty thick skin, and I don’t expect everyone to love every book I write. But I try not to focus on the negativity. Thankfully, I get a lot of positive energy from my fans, and that’s what keeps me writing.

D.P.: 4_What do you feel when you are writing? What does it give you more pleasure in writing? What is the most difficult thing you feel when you are writing?
     E. K.I experience all sorts of emotions when I’m writing. If I have to kill a character off, I might be in tears. If it’s a really funny scene, I might be grinning the whole time.  The most difficult thing, though, is definitely killing off a character I love.

D.P.: 5_Do you have any writing ritual?
     E. K.Not really. I prefer to write in silence so I’m not distracted, which can sometimes be difficult when you have a big dog LOL.

D.P.: 6_Where do you usually write?
     E. K.I have an amazing office with wall-to-wall bookshelves that’s quite relaxing, but it just depends on my mood or the weather. During the summer I write on my deck. Oftentimes I end up writing on my couch.

D.P.: 7_Besides writing, what is your greatest talent?
     E. K.: I don’t know if it’s my greatest talent, but I’m pretty inclined to music. I play the guitar and piano, and occasionally change words to radio-play songs to make them about my dog.

D.P.: 8_Do you see writing like a necessity or a hobby?
     E. K.Both. I love to write, and I will always write, even if it’s just for myself. But I also write for a living though, so I guess that makes it a necessity as well.

     E. K.I really can’t pick between the two. I love to read, and own a ridiculous amount of books, but I also find myself writing for fun between contracted books.

D.P.:10_What is the literary genre that you prefer to read?
     E. K.I mostly read thrillers or crime fiction.

D.P.: 11_What is the literary genre that you more like to write?
     E. K.I love writing romantic suspense, but sometimes it gets exhausting, so I like to break it up with some fun, contemporary books in between.

D.P.: 12_What do you think the world would be without books?
     E. K.Sober. Books not only allow us to learn, but to imagine. Books can take you different places, and potentially make you a different person. A world without books is one I’d never want to live in.

D.P.: 13_What is your favorite book?
     E. K.If I had to pick just one, probably Danielle Steel’s Wanderlust. I’ve read this book so many times I’ve had to replace it on several occasions.

D.P.: 22_What was the last book you read? And do you still remember which was the first one?
     E. K.: The last book I read was Stephen King’s 11/22/63. And I can’t remember the first one at all.
